The portfolio is the central piece of a photographer’s self-promotion. Getting potential clients to view your portfolio is the primary goal of many of your marketing activities. Of course today a photographer’s website is their most accessible portfolio.
While both your website and your physical portfolio should showcase your best work, the work you want to be hired to shoot, it is not important that they have identical content, but they should be consistent and complement each other.
It would not be a good idea to frustrate an art producer or photo editor by showing up with a physical portfolio that looks nothing like the one that is showcased on your website.
